About

Since Leela's interests include philology, history, linguistics, and all things culinary (especially the cuisine of Thailand and its history), you'll find that much of what is on this site revolves around these subjects.

Those who know her well are aware of the width and depth of Leela's love for ancient texts. This explains why an unjustifiably large amount of her time these days is spent on historical documents, especially ones that emerged in the period between late 16th century to early 19th century Siam.

The rest of the time, she just cooks and eats a lot.

This website was created in the memory of Leela's mother, the cookbook addict who filled all the book margins with her notes.

Leela can be reached at shesimmers[at]gmail[dot]com.

Leela as the Zealous Water Buffalo, letting out her inner nerd for those who are interested in linguistics, philology, poetry, and intercultural communications. (Water buffalo is an indigenous Southeast Asian quadruped, unfairly used to portray bullheadedness and ineptitude.)
